When I repaired my rear wiper I used a puller to get the arm off, unfortunately this only removed the plastic arm and left the metal ferrule in place on the shaft. However I was then able to get the shaft out of the glass and clean it up..
This has to be done thoroughly so that when reassembled on the shaft ,you are able to move the wiper arm very very easily using your little finger . I managed to glue my arm back on using araldite, but it only lasted about three months and I had to get a new arm off
for about £15 with wiper blade (second Hand) .The key is to keep the shaft well lubricated frequently .its not a big job it just takes time and patience.
hope this helps
