I'm guessing that its this one you're interested in.
Mine doesn't come on under normal circumstances either.

Mines only been on once, for about 4 or 5 minutes then it went off again by itself.
It was the bringer of bad news too.
  1. First diagnosis faulty EGR Valve
  2. Turned out during a later diagnosis the turbo oil seals were leaking.
Take it from me you don't wanna see it lit

The MPG is a lot more difficult coming and going to work 50% dual carriageway the other 50 in very much stop start traffic I'm getting around 36.6 MPG over a 10 mile X 2 trip with just me in the car.

The interesting thing is, I've had 36.7 MPG with a caravan on the back, full of all the junk you need for almost a weeks holiday including 2 passengers over a trip of around 80 miles.

Addition : On just motorway none stop trips at 70 MPH 54.6 MPG
Currently in hondo's garage:
1.6 Valve-Matic SR. Red hot, toasty feet.
