What happens if I disconnect the lamda-sensor?

The reason for my question is that I found out when my car was at its EU-control, that the values for exhaust was of the chart, but after giving it som throttle it slowly went down.

And I have irregular idling and more important a el. warning with limp-mode reaction. So I was thinking maybe a defect lamda-sensor could cause this error?

And would it be better or worse if I disconnected the sensor for a test?
