I worked it out on the onboard liar , Noel, but also with fuel used. I previously checked its readings doing the full tank/drive/refill syndrome and it seems very honest to me. Ive had about 15 cars with onboard readouts and theyve all worked pretty good, even old Monzas and a celica supra.
I dont know how people manage to get low 30's(blocked air filters aside,etc), but then again im very lenient in the right foot dep't.
Same on my bikes, I always get way more than the "reviewers" get.Currently got a Triumph sprint with onboard computer which is excellent.
I think right foot useage is the key item in mpg, I commute on my bike at 2000rpm ish, some people always do double that
