Question Renault Scenic 1 - Ignition Key Not Fitting

Hey all,

I have a 2002 52 scenic 1.9 dci about 56k.

I took the key out of the ignition tonight and it seemed a bit tight to come out and the key will not go back in now. It only goes in about a third of the way or maybe half at the most ande then stops as it hits something metal inside. My wife came with the spare key but thats the same. The car is now parked up outside my local chippy!!

The car locks / unlocks ok and the red immobiliser light on the dash flashes when locked.

The steering lock is not on though but i'm worried about towing it home in case it decides to come on...

Please help! How can I fix it to get the car home from the chippy tomorrow morning

I seen some posts about fitting a new barrel, but not why it was required...I hope I dont need a new barrel?
