It could be the window regulator or cables have become damaged or worn and if the sytem detects resistance the anti-pinch system kicks in. If something had come adrift then the only way of temporarily getting the window closed is to strip the door liner for a looksee. It may then be possible to coax the window into the closed position until repairs can be effected.
