The belt you can see is the auxilary belt,this drives the alternator,power steering pump,aircon compressor etc.The cambelt is on the same side of the engine,but hidden behind plastic covers.Some are easy to look at,others less so,but you're in the right area!.
As you say,pictures would be a great help.If anyone can provide some,then we'd be very grateful!.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
