I doubt extended warranty would cover such an event as a run-down battery - it's not as if the car has broken down but if you read the terms of the policy it may give a better clue. Access to the battery is quite easy as it cover is easiy removed - some just clip off others have a small quarter turn screw. Either way the battery will neeed charged or the use of jump leads.
Just because the fuel warning light is on doesn't necessarily mean there will be insufficient fuel for the engine to start although it would be prudent to get a can of fuel added first.
