The 'preheat light' on your dash is the engine management light, you say it came on so there must be a fault logged in the ECU memory.

Your car has a coil pack as opposed to individual coils per plug and the unit can cause misfires if faulty, but ideally you need to have the ECU fault codes read to see what comes up and this should point you to the right area.I could say just go and but a coil ,but it could be wasted money as poor running/misfires can be caused by a number of things and anything to avoid expensive guess work has to be helpful.Theres no need for an expensive visit to a main dealer, any decent independant garage with a scanner will ba able to read the ECU on your car and tell you the codes stored and the meanings of them.
