Hello Nick and welcome to the forum.

Make sure the bonnet safety catch is in good working order,and if you do buy the car,religiously check it and lubricate it (search for 'watchdog' on the forum and you should find the thread all about the problem).

Make sure the cambelt has been changed.

If it's a 16 valve engine,then they suffer from pencil coil failures but this is an easy DIY fix and isn't expensive if you use aftermarket parts.

If it's got a sunroof,they can rattle and leak.Again,there are threads on the forum covering this with details on how to fix it.

Wheel bearings are a common failure,but again these needn't be expensive and aftermarket parts seem to last well once replaced.

If it's got electronic power steering,check it's function as problems can be expensive to fix.

The front wings are plastic,these can crack,especially along the top edge so check them carefully.

Thats all that springs to mind for now,I'm sure other members will add their thoughts too.I know the above faults make it sound like the Clio is a bad car,but in all honesty they are generally very good and if you buy carefully then you should have a good,reliable car.Even if you do have problems,there is a mass of info on here to help out.

EDIT;Something else() is check the coil springs as they can snap.

Thats it now....honest.
