I had the same situation with the Lag II hondo.

I took it to the dealer (it happened to be a Ford dealer that they stipulated ) to be assessed, the bloke didnt say there or then but said he would ring me back the next day. They didnt, and couple of days later I got a call from the insurance company to say the car was a total loss (write off).

I just hate the vagueness of it all mate.

While your waiting go on Autotrader etc and look for cars for sale that are the same as yours and with the same model / mileage etc.... Then if it is written off, you will have an idea of the amount of money it should be worth. Oh and dont accept their first offer, haggle. I did and got an extra 100 out of the insurance company.

Oh and sorry to hear of FIL's accident. Hope he wasnt injured.
