Hardly, it was 10yrs old, cost £300, and insurance was £180. A ten yr old car then wasn't the rust free cars you have nowadays...lol
When I tell my kids the price of the insurance for a 2 litre they go wow, wish it was that cheap nowadays. But if you think I was on £40 a week then, it was four and a half weeks wages. My 16yr old son is getting £150 a week now, so todays equivalent would be £675. Still cheap by what they pay today I guess, but not that cheap.
I always said I've love a MkIII with MkV suspension, that would be the ultimate Cortina cos the MkIII back end was all over the place. I did like the dash and all the flick switches they had though...it was like a cockpit. Remember the foot operated wash/wipe pedal....lol
