As with all cars, there are good and bad ones. The Lag II does appear to have had more than its fair share of electrical and
problems. That said the later models 04 onwards, whilst they may be too new do seem to be more reliable. As with all makes a new model always has teething problems and it takes the manufacturers several yrs (usually) to iron out all the problems. That is why it never pays to buy a brand new model as soon as it is launched.
We have had ours for 6mths now, done 6k miles and still really pleased with it. We bought our previous car on say so from somebody , a Picasso 2.0hdi, they were supposed to be good, after owning one and reading about everyones elses problems, Renault have nothing to worry about.
If you are serious, get the car checked out by the AA or an experienced mechanic if you know one, and make sure you have a warranty with it.Also change the
and filter every 9000 miles with fully synthetic
. the 18K service interval is too long, hence the
probs, Renault have now reduced the service interval to 9k for all new models.
