Clio 2 DCI versus Clio 3 DCI economy

Hi all,

Another newbie here, but not new to Renault as now on my third Clio.

Just killed off a Clio 2 1.5 DCI 65 taking it from new to 130k miles in 4 years.

So traded it 2 weeks ago for a Clio 3 DCI 86 , 07 reg with only 20k miles.

Lovely car but I am surprised to find economy seems some way off that of the Mark 2 despite the book figures being similar.

I mostly averaged around 65mpg on my daily 120 mile commute with the Mark 2. Only getting 57 mpg from the Mark 3 on exactly same run , driving same speeds.

Would others members have similar experience. Whilst 57 mpg is not too bad it has got we wondering if there may be a problem with my new car. It was serviced 2000 miles ago but then the previous owner fell ill and it has been unused for several months prior to me picking it up.

Any thoughts??
