Re: TDC Sensor Replacement (with pictures!)
The pictures are very helpful - BUT do not relate to the current replacement part. The part shown is Renault reference 8200 647554. Sadly you will discover the if you currently order 8200 647554 - my quoted price this week was £24 - the part will NOT fit your car! Unless it is the latest design.
Because Renault have charged the rectangular plug
connection (black as in the above pictures) to a ROUND
Renault have realised this problem so offer a kit plug
(small) with 6 inches of twin cable - that must be attached to your wire loom - so you can modifiy
the wiring loom. For an eye watering £24.
Apparently 25 minutes in the dealer book for fitting it.
Hence we can expect a bill for around £200.
As alleged above. One suspects that because more work is involved this figure will be increased.
How the hell a bit of wire with a plug can attract a charge like this - Beats me!
It strikes this Renault owner, as though they are providing finance to pay for their 2008/9 F1 escapades.
Incidentally I was at first surprised that an alternative
supplier was charging £38 - from experience usually very reasonable - when Renault is charging just £24 - But then I did not realise the necessary doubling up of the original 'bit!' The new bit is ref:- 8200 673202
Useful info on part Numbers, thanks.
I would however, advise anyone who suspects they have a
problem to follow the simple steps listed in this thread:
1. Remove sensor
2. Clean sensor
3. Check conector block is clean and makes a good fit
5. Fire her up and drive with a satisfied grin.
This is successful more often than not and save a nice wedge of £££ for under an hours fiddling.
