As long as it's not smoking excessively, you should be okay... Emissions control/injection faults can be hell with MOTs on petrol cars 'cause it can mess up the emissions values, but diesels are only smog tested.

The tester may be a bit hesitant about ragging it for said test with a fault showing though... Or they may have trouble actually doing it 'cause it might enter limp home mode and refuse to rev over 3000 RPM. The tester who did mine rang me up in a panic 'cause he thought the engine was f**ed (running on 3 cylinders when he started it) but I pointed out it was just a dud glowplug
