Hi Oliver, thanks for your comments.

Yes, the merc is a far superior drive (for one thing, it starts if left unattended for more than a day), better fuel economy/performance & cheaper road tax.

The only feature of the VS I miss is the cabin space (which was palatial).

Servicing is expensive, but at least its not halving its value every year, so it works out.

Never like tempting fate about commenting on reliability!

P.S. Sel's post reminded me - you can select a higher gear for starting off (from 1-3), but this can mean that you need more revs to get the car moving, which in turn can cause wheelspin.
