I know I probably sounded like I was covering all bases, but the overriding message was - buy the 'best' warranty your budget will permit.

I was gathering from the last posts that the cost was becoming an issue, and bearing in mind the low annual mileage, I was taking the (admittedly, riskier) view, that money in the bank (which can be used for any purpose) was better than tying it up in a car which doesn't get much use.

I wouldn't want to 'tell' you or sway you in what path to choose - it sounds like you have given it some considered thought, and you have the benefit of knowing your own cisrumstances (and the car), so I would believe that you can make a better decision for yourself than anyone here can.
