Re: Renault Scenic - Fire risk - Door mirror control
Hi the advice for you is the same as what I said only the other day. Do you have the details of the car, year of manufacture?
There is a possibility it is an import as these seem to have been missed under RUK's quality campaign.
It is a distressing thing to have happen, we know! If you want to contact me directly send me a PM with your email address and I'll assist you where possible. I also have Alex Phelan's email address if it will help.
The most likely reason that the switches are failing is due to the wet / snowy / icy weather allowing moisture to build up inside the switch and causing a partial short circuit path that generates enough heat to start the whole melting / fire process.
Make sure that you get a replacement car sorted through Renault as they owe that at least to you! Let us know how you get on?
