If there is nothing obviously holding it in place, it may be mastic which has been applied to the inside.
You will probably just need to be brave and careful in equal measure and insert a large flat-headed screwdriver into the gap between the door skin & the door panel (bottom corner is a good place to start), and with gentle force work your way around.
It can be a bit nerve-wracking but there has to be a way in.
