this might not help at all but ill try lol.
remove the plastic behind the boot, normally a few screws then you need to "pop out" the clips that hold it in.
well, when my lock went i used a screw driver and you can see the catch were the wire would have pulled it.
just click that and it should pop boot open, its only small so needs something small to move it. worked for me so....
u might want a torch to.
I think it the bonnet cable thats broken sean, not the boot.
You can usually flick the lug from underneath the car, working between the front chassis menber and infront of the radiator ... you need a very long screwdriver or suitable bar ... its a real pain
