Re: Knocking noise coming from rear brakes.
you need to adjust the brake shoes, inside the drum you will see a small wheel with teeth on there is also an arm that holds the wheel in place as it self adjusts, this is a bit of a pain of a job, turn the wheel one tooth at a time and try the drum back on, you should do this untill you can just get the drum on and feel a slight resistance, make sure to give the drum a slight tap with a hammer each time you refit it, do this on both wheels, you should notice a better handbrake when it is correct about two or three clicks. Before you start this work remove the drums and make sure there is not a lip on the inside of the drum, if there is you sould carefully! grind it untill the lip is gone as this will prevent you getting the drum over the brake shoes and prevent proper adjustment, if you prefer take it to any garage and they will do it for you at a small cost. The problem you have is the brake shoes are bouncing inside the drums only contacting the drum with the very edge of the shoes. Good luck
