I'm new to the forum, I've been 'lurking' for a while but this my first post.
My Wife is looking to replace her '99 Polo with either a Scenic (phase 2), Megane hatch or Saloon.
This evening I've been to look at a 2004 Scenic with a 1.4 engine, with 65000km (45000m?). It's a bit tatty, but here in Ireland I've found there's not much for under ***8364;5500 which was our limit. The cars runs ok, but I've found the following points and I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to feedback any info:
1 - Water in Drivers' footwell storage box (dealer did tell me the car had been valeted twice, as the prev owner had dogs)
2 - Neither of the rear windows work from any switch.
3 - Heater fan doesn't work on no 4.
4 - Small puddle of water on floor underneath the middle of car, approx under the bulkhead (I'm thinking aircon condensor)
5 - 'Parking brake fault' with accompanying 'stop' sign on dash.
6 - There is a damp
patch on the cam cover, between the
filler cap and the back of the timing belt housing. (I'm thinking
that missed the filler hole?!)
7 - Clutch bites in last 2" of travel, works fine with no slip.
8 - Service light on, despite having been service 2500km ago. ALso had a cam belt 2500km ago.....apparently!
9 - Only one key card. How do I get another and how much?
Despite all this, the car runs well, stops, starts fine etc. Most of the electrical gear fine.
Any thoughts would be gratefully appreciated.
