Due to plastic panels and were some rear wiper blades being fitted to the rear screen most decent garages now use a puller especially designed for the purpose. I have just bought the type shown in the link below and it worked perfectly for me. Just remember when using it slacken the retainging nut a few turns first - leave the nut in place until the arm is slackened. When fitting a replacemnt arm a little grease on the splines should help future removal if necessary.
