Ive owned fords and Renaults more recently, I loved my ford when I owned it never let me down, great build quality etc.

Then I bought the laguna, and was equally impressed.

I had the misfortune to be loaned a new shape mondeo, and to say the build quality was poor is an understatment.
The doors shutting sounded like they were made of tin, and would crease at the slightest stone chip, and a vastly underpowered engine.

Prior to this I would have bought another fordno questions asked, never will ford get my business if this is the trash they are putting out.

Unfortunatly the lagunas and the equals in its class are known to be high depreciators, just look at any parkers guide.
