Creaking noise at higher speed. Scenic

I have a Scenic Alize 1.6.

When I go above 60mph I get an intermittent creaking noise which sounds as if it is coming from the engine compartment. Sounds like 2 parts rubbing against each other. It appears to be getting more frequent since I noticed it about a month ago.

Below 60mph it cannot be heard at all. It does not appear to be caused by going over bumps/uneven road surface or when turning the wheel.

I am based in France for the winter and the car is fitted with snow tyres but as I said, no noise when going up or down the mountain roads, only when cruising on the motorway above 60mph.

Has anybody any idea what I should be looking for. The car is used fairly infrequently.
