The sudden whoosh sound slike the pollen filter has blocked or got soaked and then suddenly allowed air through. As already said this is most likely due to blocked drains in the scuttle panel. A fairly common problem and not just on Renaults. Get the drains cleaned and the pollen filter changed ASAP. Restricted air-flow and water ingress can damage the heater motor or its ballast resistors neither of which will be a cheap repair.

As a matter of interest have you any idea when the pollen filter was last changed??
