Re: Renault Clio 2 - Bonnet catch report

It is really quite horrendous that a major European manufacturer allows this. Having joined this forum after purchasing a Clio II in Feb 2010, I inspected the catch and the secondary latch was seized in the open position - meaning that only the main latch was holding the bonnet closed
Quick spray with WD40 followed by a liberal greasing and all is well and I will clean / grease this assembly regularly but I can only imagine how many other Clio's running around the world are is the same lethal condition.
Renault don't sell Clio's 9 (or any other car) in the USA and I am very certain that the US legal culture would force a proper recall and modification.
Many moons ago I had a bonnet come up in a different car (Suzuki Swift) on a British Dual Carriageway whilst accelerating to the national legal limit. Not a pleasant experience and it wrote off the car.
