It had been sluggish for a couple of days before it keeled over and died. It turns over but will not start.
Replaced the air filter, the distributor and rotor arm, to no avail, it still turned over but would not start.
We are now looking at the head gasket, (coolant level low)how difficult is to change, any special tools that are needed and is it as easy as a cortina.
I know we have to mark up all the cams etc for the timing, but any other advise would be greatly appreciated.
The first thing to check is see if the cambelt is still in one piece.
The second thing to establish is have you got fuel and a spark when the engine is cranked over?.
If you don't have both, then it's not going to start, and it will narrow things down slightly.
If you have both, then a compression test would be the next step.
Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
(Welcome to the forum,by the way.
