99 T Clio Alize Locking Problem
I hope you will be able to help me with my problem.
Basically the drivers lock in my 99 Clio Alize has always been a bit dodgy since I bought it (the lock would not always rise up completely when unlocking and so door wouldn't open, but at this point it did lock OK), but squirting some WD40 cured this.
I mentioned this in a thread shortly after I joined this forum, but with WD40 it was fine and it looked sorted.
Some receipts from before I got it, found in the service book, point to lock issues several times.
Although it has RCL, this does not work so I have always manually locked it.
Now the drivers lock suddenly stopped working from the outside, it does does not lock, or unlock, so to lock it I need to unlock passenger door whilst in car, walk round, lean across to press drivers lock down before locking passenger door and boot, and in reverse for unlocking.
Unlike before the lock does not move at all, the key just doesn't "grip" to anything. Squirted some WD40 in as before but makes no difference.
Basically I am asking what the issue could be, and if it is possible to replace the entire mechanism, and how you would do this, as this lock just seems to go wrong so I'm wondering if its possible for an entire replacement. Could you get a mechanism from a Clio at a scrapyard for example, and then replace it? A scrapyard I regularly went last year had a large amount of Mk2 phase 1 Clios like mine.
Anyway sorry for a long post,
Thanks for reading
