I take it you removed the door panel to get access to apply the WD40 to the lock mechanism. In my experince WD40 ain't the best lubricant or corrosion preventative and is primarlily a de-watering agent - a job it does fairly well.
If the key is rotatoing but nothing is happening I would suspect something has come adrift inside the door.
