Hi there and welcome.

There are basically 2 reasons why you would see moisture in the headlights;

The first would be if the seals were allowing water into the units - but this would mean the water level would be ever-present, and would increase with rainfall, etc.

The second (which from your description sounds more likely), is that moisture present in the air within the lights is condensing as the surface glass is cooled down when washing the car (it'll probably also be a similar story when at night, when the ambient air temp is colder), but once the lights are on (or the lens warms up), and the air inside heats up again - this moisture once again is carried in the air, and 'invisible'.

It is possible to 'vent off' the lights (Fords had similar issues) by covering the lens with black paper, switching on the main beams, and removing the aperture for the sidelight bulb - then refitting after around 10-15 mins - but it is a temporary measure as the units aren't hermetically sealed.
