Personally Neil, if you are trading it in, I wouldn't say anything about any of these issues (whether real or potential). You'll just talk yourself out of cash against your next car.

The dealer will stick an aftermarket warranty on it, which will satisfy the needs & expectations of the next owner, possibly give it a check over (more than likely not, just wash it), and that'll be that.

At the end of the day, anyone buying a near 3-year old car and expecting 'brand new' is just being unrealistic, they know the risks involved, that's why the cars depreciate - to reflect the usage the car has incurred to date.

I traded in my Vel Satis because of all the problems it had - and still only got a 1/4 of what I'd paid for it 2.5years earlier - I certainly wasn't giving any more away.

And I can still sleep soundly - my conscience is fine.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
