The end - choises

What is the finantially best way to ditch a deadish car? My Mk1 Lag estate still looks good and worked perfectly until I went to resolve my noisey tappets. The tappets are fine. I think that its an oil pressure problem although the pump is good. However, as nice as the car is, with 150K miles, The trade in value is only 370. By the time I throw a new cam belt on it and oil . Its a minimum of 100 in parts - for an engine that will still rattle (I might not get 370 in part ex).

Also, trying to part ex, limits my buying choises.

If I put the parts on it and sell private, there could be comeback.

If I pull ebayable bits off it, will I still be able to get the
carcass hauled away?

Is a scrap yard likely to give me a reasonable return if I scrap it off complete?
