What is the finantially best way to ditch a deadish car? My Mk1 Lag estate still looks good and worked perfectly until I went to resolve my noisey tappets. The tappets are fine. I think that its an
pressure problem although the pump is good. However, as nice as the car is, with 150K miles, The trade in value is only £370. By the time I throw a new cam belt on it and
. Its a minimum of £100 in parts - for an engine that will still rattle (I might not get £370 in part ex).
Also, trying to part ex, limits my buying choises.
If I put the parts on it and sell private, there could be comeback.
If I pull ebayable bits off it, will I still be able to get the
carcass hauled away?
Is a scrap yard likely to give me a reasonable return if I scrap it off complete?
