Ah, I had a similar issue when some little scumbag decided to have a go at the side loading door on my Ducato (and broke the plastic exterior handle). I had to remove the ply lining, plus the factory plastic panelling to gain access just to swap the handle over & re-attach the cabling for the catches & lock.

It may just be the relevent cable has fallen out of place, but you will need to open the door up, I'm afraid.

Access should be good though - these panels are fairly hollow.
