Brakes - Grand Scenic Automatic

Hope someone can point me in the right direction please.

I have a 2005 Grand Scenic Automatic and next week will be replacing both front and rear brake discs/pads.

It seems a fairly straightforward job but my only concern is the Auto Handbrake. Is there a quick way to disengage it when the engine is off apart from disconnecting the handbrake cable on the rear?

The Haynes Manual, mentions about putting the car in Reverse or P but does that disengage the Auto Handbrake, especially as the engine is off?

Also going to renew the brake fluid, is Dot 5.1 recommended?

Thanks for any help, appreciated.
