Re: Looking at a 57 plate MK 3 Lag

I wouldnt worry about the FAP , if it has one. At that mileage in that space of time it certainly wont be clogged up!
FAP filters only become an issue if you only do a lot of short journeys so the engine never warms up properly, even then, as long as you do a few journeys every week of 30 mins or more at at least 40 mph you should be ok as the FAP will regenerate.

The car has a Renault warranty for 3 yrs or 100,000 miles so you still have 30,000 or the balance of the remaining warranty in months.

As it has a full service history you know it has had the required servicing and oil changes.

If you are happy with the price and the car and as long as you get some warranty with it, go with your instincts. I too would be a bit wary but modern diesels ( even Renaults) if looked after are almost bullet proof.

There will always be people who try to put you off, recommend a different engine etc etc - but at the end of the day if you are happy and the car has been maintained properly it's up to you.

Is this the first one you have found or have you seen others? There do seem a few secondhand ones around so it may pay to look at one or two others to compare, even if they are slightly different mileages/spec etc.
