Re: Stories re Longest Your Car's Been At the Garage?

I think mine was 3 weeks for the engine replacement, though it spent a fair amount of that time waiting because they'd got an Espace in with the same fault, and that was ahead in the queue.

The previous one spent 3 weeks off the road just for a new power steering rack and pump. Most of the first week was wasted waiting for a special piece of test equipment to arrive, because Renault wouldn't authorise a new rack unless the old one failed the test. As I recall, I got the car back after a fortnight or so, drove it around the car park and took it straight back because the fault was still there. I think at that point, they'd changed the rack but not the pump.

The same dealer gave me the car back with fuel spraying all over the engine compartment after replacing an injector. I switched dealers after that.
