Re: Renault Scenic - Faulty Coils Causing Warning Light(Including General Info)*fixed

Replacement is easy, After unclipping the wire, unscrew the smal retaining screw but do not be heavy handed - it has been known to shear.
Not the end of the world though!

Probably a coil .
Try the second from the left first. If no improvement , target the third (front of car) - these usually go first.

Once this sorts out the running of the car - Change the lot! One invariably finds - another coil going down shortly afterwards.
Too often to save cash, just one is replaced - then trouble returns, at a very inopportune time - up a bloody mountain or on a dark, wet night. Yes! the vehicle will often limp along, but then damage can occur to your cat converter - at which stage you are talkng about big money.

This writer went onto the Internet for his coils , though I'm aware local alternative car shops sell them. A set of four is around 60 - Renault coils were 43 each. Not sure about the fitting charge or associated coupling to a diagnostic computer - locally the latter is 45 to plug in.

Incidentally one Internet supplier offers a three year warranty plus next day delivery before noon!
Naturally there are other areas that could be at fault -but if you do not have a diagnostic gadget -that's the first place to examine. Only tools required a socket spanner. SamWoerth
