Just a quick follow-up, to see who got 'hit' by the protests today?
I filled up the car and a couple of spare cans on Monday, and the queues were just beginning. Then I thought I'd see if I could top up again this morning, and it could have been any other day: No queues, and no shortages of fuel. This is Ellesmere Port, not far from the Stanlow refinery - one of the places where it was all supposed to kick off, but didn't.
So I thought it was business as usual, but when I got to work (Salford Quays) everyone was telling me that it was absolute murder out there, with people prepared to sell body parts for a litre of unleaded! Many of the petrol stations were closed, and those that weren't had huge queues. I ended up giving my spare can to a colleague just so that he could get home.
Back home again, and the missus tells me that the petrol stations around here were all open, with no unusually large queues.
So I'm just wondering: What impact (if any) did the whole thing have where the rest of you guys live?
