Renault 5 - Starter motor problem
My son has a Renault 5 Campus 1390 (N reg). Today, when he tried to start it, there was a couple of clicks then nothing. The motor didn't turn at all. The warning lights on the dash lit quickly then went out. The wipers when turned on were very very slow.
I tried to jump start it from my car but with the same result.
Eventually we push started it and it started and run fine. However, once home we tried to start it again and it still had the same problem.
Initially i thought it could be a dead battery but I've checked the battery. It shows 13.5v and doesn't appear to need a charge when I attach it to a charger. Also, when I tried to jump start it from my car it showed the same symptons so I think the battery is OK.
I couldn't find any obvious loose leads or connections.
I've now removed the starter motor and solenoid (not the easiest of tasks on a 5) and plan to get them checked out.
But I'm wondering whether its the ignition switch?
Has anyone seen symptons like this before?
Many thanks for your help - PeterA
