Renault Clio not starting properly

Posted a few msgs recently regarding my clio immobiliser.
Its getting to the stage now where it takes ages to start it. The immobiliser light just flashes on the dash until i take the key out and try again. Eventually after numerous attemps it starts.
Been reading into it a bit recently and wondered if it could be the tdc sensor? I understand clios have a common problem with this?Would it make the immobiliser light flash?
Spoke to someone at renault and they said it could be the key or it could be immobiliser not reconizing the key but either way they want 50 quid to diagnois it. Where is the immobiliser sensor anyway? Its a clio x reg grande 3 door
Any help?
