Your Clio has a 'transponder' key.
There is a chip in it that sends a signal to an aerial which is around the ignition barrel.The aerial then tells the
if it can allow the car to be started or not.(cuts spark and fuel)
Do you have a spare key that you can try?.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
