Re: Renault Laguna II - Phase 1 - Wheels and Tyres - Seized Rear Brake Calipers
I have now tried Bob27's suggestions and unfortunately it has not worked for me.
I git the caliper and disk off at the same time, managed to part the 2 by destroying one of the disks and I then had the caliper to work on.
I managed to rotate it thus proving that the piston itself is not actually siezed and I noticed that if you move the handbrake lever back and forth that the piston moves forward which says the handbrake autoadjuster is working fine. Now the question is how to get the damn thing to retract.
I tried as suggested hitting it back in with no success and then squeezing it back in with the vice also with no success, so I tried levering it back in with a crowbar (the same as squeezing it in really) but no joy...
I am now stuck and need to know the proper mechanical method by which this piston will retract - all suggestions welcome.
