well the 2.0 DCI 16v is part nissan designed and has a timing chain, not a belt and is more reliable then the 1.9 DCI. As you say the engine has been well maintained and modern engines will do high mileages without any complaints, its the bits around them such as wheel bearings, springs etc that can start to go at high mileages. I would not say to avoid the car but it depends on the miles you will be doing each year and how long you are wanting to keep the car for. How much are you looking at spending on your next car, why are you wanting to change your mercedes. As an alternative to the laguna the 1.9 CDTI Vauxhall vectra Elite or Skoda Superb 2.5 V6 TDI is worth considering.
