I Give Up! Now it's the Undertray
I love my Vel Satis a lot but I'm getting a bit sick of 'all things Renault' in general, as it seems that one problem leads quickly onto another, and not through the fault of the car particularly.
On top of the strange sound and very subtle gurgling coming from behind the steering wheel/pedals, and the air con seemingly not working, I've now got an even grander worry to think about, at a time when other areas of my life are stressing me out too. Oh joy!
Basically, when my RTE friend inspected my car yesterday, he confirmed my hunch that the underside of my car somehow looked different to my dad's Vel Satis, and different to how I vaguely recalled it looked before.
The smaller undertray at the very front is still there, but the big, main undertray is no longer there, so I can see the sump, etc.
Maybe this tallies with the strange burgling noises/slight vibrations I've had recently?
Anyway, I can't be certain (as I hardly look under my car) but the disappearance of the main undertray could well tie in with the fact that when the car was serviced 5 weeks ago, the main Renault dealer had problems getting the oil sump bolt out, so they snapped it and had to get a heli-coil expert to sort out the thread etc.
So how do I prove it was them who didn't put the undertray back on, and if they do admit that they didn't bother putting the undertray back on after having heli-coiled the sump thread, then what, do I ask them to put a new undertray on and if they refuse to do it FOC, do I kick off?
I've got to make a 1-hour motorway journey at the weekend, which I can't avoid, but I'm nervous about doing so without the main undertray...!
