Going back a bit but I went through the head gasket issue stuff twice on my Megane, after both the temp gauge would be a little erratic, sometimes even the temperature would increase when revving the engine while stationary!

Never got to the bottom of it though, tbh, and well the car died an inglorious death in the end, much to my expense, but never mind. I'd keep an eye on the levels though, maybe a sensor swap is a good idea, and make sure the cooling system is properly bled - I had many a bleeding session with the Megane! It seemed a right neggar to bleed air out of the coolant on that car, I can only assume the Scenic is similar.

Oh, and it was the 1.6 energy K7M 8 valve lump, btw
