Re: Fuel pump won't seal in the tank

there is a special Renault tool that should be used to remove and refit the sealing ring, i have no idea of what the torque should be.
from experience you cannot simply crank it till its impossible to turn any more as you need to make sure the rubber seal does not slip into the top edge of the tank, using a screwdriver/chisel to open/close it is a big no-no.

fit the seal over the pump to the top, insert pump into the tank, carefully slip the seal/pump into the tank making sure its a smooth slide until its snugly seated, put ring on and carefully wind it till its finger tight.

i think the torque should be 2.5-5Nm but its not mentioned in the haynes manual???
its best to go by feel, overtightened and the seal will buckle and you will get fuel/fume leakage.

dont forget there is a 30min time limit for having the tank open!!! or else it will buckle under its own weight(even if empty!!! those tanks are heavy.) and it wont be cheap to get a replacement either.

Spare parts available for 2001 Scenic 1.9Dci, 97 Lag1, 02 Lag2.
everythings gotta go....
cheap prices...
