Re: Fuel pump won't seal in the tank
fit the seal over the pump to the top, insert pump into the tank, carefully slip the seal/pump into the tank making sure its a smooth slide until its snugly seated, put ring on and carefully wind it till its finger tight.
dont forget there is a 30min time limit for having the tank open!!! or else it will buckle under its own weight(even if empty!!! those tanks are heavy.) and it wont be cheap to get a replacement either.
Thanks for the reply`s so far .
i should have been more precise with my thread title this is for a clio 2 . where mr haynes and on first removal the seal is actually on the top of the tank on a ledge , so is fitted first then the pump is fitted then the sealing ring ...... or is this the problem and i fit the pump then drop the seal over/round the pump ?.
and if as you say they buckle after half an hour then a replacement tank from a scrap yard is a no go as well then
