Laguna Tourer II - Fuel injector fault

Hoping someone can help here with a problem. It sounds as if Horatio had.

The car is a 2002 Privilege Sports Tourer 2.0 (petrol) with 33K miles, full service history. The car is no longer under warranty.

No problems to date

When the engine is hot and the car is in a queue (at idle) the system reports "Fuel injection fault, see you Renault dealer" followed immediately by "ESP fault". The car reverts to get-you-home mode = max 1900 revs.

The problem is intermittent.
Stopping and starting clears the fault.
It only happens when the engine is hot, which has been wonderful in the last few days!
Keeping the revs above idle seems to prevent the problem.

It does not happen above idling - fortunately!!

Renault say they cannot help unless the car is brought to them in a "fault state" as the system only records the last one event.

Any help, advice, experience welcome.

Many thanks
